What is „digital smile design”, and why Is it useful?
Smile design is the actual preliminary process before the real treatment begins. The Digital Smile Design concept of the 21st century uses facial esthetic data of the patient and making use of the modern digital technology such as video and photos.
Best of all, the patient can be presented with a “visual” which makes it much easier for the individual to understand the envisioned end result. The patients can now make much more informed choices and decisions and give their approval prior to that actual treatment even starting.
In summary, smile design is the entire process, beginning with the pre-visualization and planning of the preferred outcome of any given esthetic dental procedure. Our aim to achieve an improved and balanced state, instead of the current disharmony. It is very much based on the rules of smile, facial, tooth and gingival balance.
What is the process?
The Digital Smile Design process consists of the following steps:
Step 1: Our team will take digital photos of your teeth and entire mouth from multiple angles
Step 2: We will review the photos using special software that allows us to begin demonstrating potential changes
Step 3: A simulation of your smile after treatment will be rendered in a “digital mock-up”
Step 4: Our team takes impressions of your teeth and we translate the digital design onto the physical model
Can I preview what a Smile Makeover would look like?
Step 5: Absolutely. We will create a resin model to see how well the modeled treatments fit your teeth and your needs
If you’re happy with this final mock-up, our dentists will perform any necessary treatments according to the roadmap you and the dentist developed through the Digital Smile Design process.
Why would I want Digital Smile Design? Why do patient’s love it?
Patients who are unhappy with their smile don’t want to invest in treatment only to find that the procedure doesn’t result in the changes they expected. Digital Smile Design gives you the power to review all improvements before they are made, making you a key participant in pre-treatment planning.
